Given that the All Progressives Congress (APC) controls 29 state governments, Senate Deputy President Barau Jibril has stated that the APC will win the 2027 election.

Barau reportedly said this while speaking to supporters of the party at a political event that supported President Bola Tinubu and Katsina State Governor Dikko Umaru Radda for second terms in 2027.

He maintained that with 29 governors, the party has the institutional presence, broad grassroots support, and political apparatus needed to hold onto national leadership.

According to Barau, the APC’s hegemony at the state level is a structural advantage that improves democratic chances and governance, not only a statistic.

The Deputy Senate President claims that President Tinubu’s support was determined by performance rather than sentiment, pointing to advancements in infrastructure, healthcare, education, and security as proof that the administration is making progress in all important areas.

Speaking from what he called first-hand knowledge, Barau added that he had insight into ongoing reforms and policy direction because of his working relationship with the President.

The administration is building solid foundations for stability and progress in the long run, he insisted.

In response to worries about the growing cost of living, he admitted that the economy was having trouble, but he connected it to global instability, such as international conflicts and global economic shocks.

He stated that in spite of these obstacles, the federal government is attempting to stabilize the economy and establish systems that will eventually provide results.

He emphasized that stability is crucial for the success of governance and called for continued unity within the party as well as collaboration among political actors. He claimed that the President would have the conditions necessary to properly carry out his plan if there was political calm and widespread support.
