The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) will not run a presidential candidate in the 2027 elections, according to Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo.

Soludo stated, “President Tinubu is my friend, and I believe he has done well and deserves a second term,” in an interview with the media soon after he was sworn in for a second term. I don’t apologize for taking this stance.

“Anyone can disagree, but the interest of my people is the primary concern, regardless of personal preferences.”

He went on to discuss his party’s strategy for the next election, the All Progressives Grand Alliance, or APGA.

“We will not run a candidate within our party. We’ve made the announcement. The APGA did not run a presidential candidate in 2011. Then-President Jonathan was chosen as the APGA’s nominee.

How would you convey that to the South-East in Tinubu’s case? We have intelligent folks. They will see the logic if they realize it is in their own enlightened self-interest, he remarked.

Governor Soludo emphasized the necessity of going back to the alliance politics of the First and Second Republics.

“We must return to Azikiwe’s politics, which taught us how to construct alliance politics. It is politics that creates bridges, not politics of protest. “My people deserve a stake on the table, but President Tinubu will win with or without us,” he declared.
