Businessman and celebrity socialite Pascal Okechukwu, also known as Cubana Chief Priest, has declared his intention to run against Peter Obi in the 2027 presidential election.
In a heated discussion with followers on Instagram, the socialite—who fervently backed the Labour Party candidate in the 2023 elections—announced his changes.
The debate began online when people questioned him about his recent political change and his ties to the pro-Tinubu “City Boy Movement.”
He answered without hesitation when a follower inquired if he really planned to work against Obi in the upcoming election.
Because I worked for Obi last election, even as a special adviser to an APC governor, he responded, “Yes, I hope that it won’t be a crime.”
Critics of his remark brought up his prior problems with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, or EFCC.
According to some, he would not be immune from future inquiry if he aligned himself with the current administration.
He dismissed the issue in his response, bragging that going to the anti-graft agency is practically a sign of achievement.
“You never make am if you never go to the EFCC for Naija,” he stated.
In the election of 2023, the focus later switched to the South-East and the issue of regional unity.
Some commentators said that Obi may have done better if he had had more support from powerful people in the area. Cubana Chief Priest replied aggressively, encouraging detractors to back whoever they choose and asking what real progress such sentiments had made in the area.
