According to reports, the Independent National Electoral Commission representatives were present at a National Executive Council meeting in Abuja on Tuesday when the decision was made.

On Wednesday, a communique detailing the meeting was made public.

On April 15, 2026, the party will submit its membership record to INEC in accordance with the schedule that has been agreed.

On April 11, 2026, the party is scheduled to have its national convention.

The council discussed current problems inside the party during the meeting, such as the alleged invasion of its national secretariat by alleged thugs connected to certain members.

The council authorized the suspension of multiple members for misconduct, anti-party activities, and their purported role in the disturbance at the party headquarters after reviewing the findings of a disciplinary committee headed by Salisu Mohammed.
