Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), was sentenced by Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court, Abuja.
According to reports, Justice had previously found Kanu guilty of each of the seven charges brought against him by the federal government.
For counts 1, 2, 4, 5, and 6, Kanu was given a life sentence by the judge.
Kanu was also given a 20-year sentence for count 3, with no chance of a fine.
Kanu was given a five-year prison term without the possibility of a fine by the judge on count seven.
According to Justice Omotosho, he shouldn’t be detained at Kuje Prison. He took away Nnamdi Kanu’s radio transmitter and prevented him from using social media.
