Goodluck Jonathan, the former president, has denounced disruptive behavior from people who see politics as a playground.

At the Goodluck Jonathan Foundation’s tenth anniversary dinner on Thursday, which also served as a commemoration of his 68th birthday, he vented his complaints.

He bemoaned the fact that the nation’s democracy is being stifled by careless political behavior, contending that accountability, nation-building, and moderation must be the cornerstones of leadership.

He contends that maintaining democratic stability necessitates civility and a sincere feeling of responsibility from all political players.

“Rascals shouldn’t be in politics. “It is for people who want to build, not destroy,” Jonathan said, cautioning that the continent’s democratic resilience is being weakened by an increase in hostile political behavior and strong rhetoric.

He considered the event that led to the establishment of his organization, pointing out that throughout the last ten years, its efforts have been concentrated on diplomacy, governance reforms, peacebuilding, mediation, and the fortification of democratic institutions.

Jonathan also bemoaned the recent wave of violent assaults and kidnappings that have occurred around the nation, calling on all levels of government to take their duty to the people more seriously and protect lives while defending the country’s democratic system.

According to reports, an amazing mix of African politicians, diplomats, political leaders, and business heavyweights attended the event.
