President Bola Tinubu says his administration is laying the foundation for a new Nigeria that works for the common good of all citizens. Tinubu stated this on Tuesday during the commissioning of the construction of the two service carriageways of the Southern Parkway from Arterial Road S20 (Oladipo Diya Way) to Ring Road II, Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja.

2. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has transmitted the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (Alteration) State Police Bill, 2026, to the Senate, commencing what lawmakers describe as an epoch-making move to end decades of debate on decentralized policing in Nigeria. The bill was read the first time in plenary Tuesday.

3. The Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, yesterday imposed a 16-hour curfew on 10 local government areas of the state. The curfew comes into effect from today, a memo issued by Secretary to the State Government Prof. Musibau Babatunde last night said.

4. Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have intercepted a truck conveying 8,000 military camouflage uniforms, 80 cartons of suspected illicit drugs and shoes allegedly meant for the South-East. The command said on Tuesday that the seizure was carried out by operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit in an intelligence-led operation in Epe in the early hours of Saturday.

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Disu, has banned unauthorised social media activities by personnel of the Nigeria Police Force, warning that such actions could undermine the Force’s integrity, professionalism and public image. The Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Anietie Iniedu, disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday.

The Department of State Services closed its case against former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, on Tuesday before the Federal High Court in Abuja, paving the way for him to file a no-case submission in his alleged wiretapping trial. The DSS is prosecuting El-Rufai on a five-count amended charge bordering on alleged unlawful interception of communications and breach of national security.

The Inspector-General of Police, I-G, Mr Olatunji Disu, said the Nigeria Police Force would not fully accept tinted vehicles on Nigerian roads and would, at a later date, start enforcement against them. Disu said this on Tuesday in Abuja when a delegation of the Nigerian Bar Association, led by its President, Mr Afam Osigwe, SAN, paid him a courtesy visit.

The Nigeria Democratic Congress is set to become the leading opposition political party in the Edo State House of Assembly following defections from both the All Progressives Congress and the Peoples Democratic Party to the party. In a letter to the Assembly, the Edo NDC Chairman, Babatunde Olukoga, urged Speaker Blessing Agbebaku to confirm the defection of three members from their previous political parties to the NDC.

The Federal High Court in Abuja on Tuesday ordered the Department of State Services, DSS to probe prosecution’s allegation that some of the evidence it tendered in court and served on the defendants’ lawyers were displayed on the social media. Justice Abdulmalik also ordered that the DSS should investigate and bring to book any evidence on social media that contravened the court’s earlier order for witnesses’ protection.

10. The Lagos Police Command has rescued 38 foreign nationals from a possible mob attack in the Epe area and has launched an investigation into alleged illegal immigration activities. This was disclosed by the Commissioner of Police, Mr Fatai Tijani on Tuesday while addressing journalists at the Command Headquarters, Ikeja.
