‘Tinubu Is Focused On Keeping El-Rufai Until After 2027’ – Paul Ibe Alleges

Paul Ibe, the media aide to Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), accused President Bola Tinubu of wanting to keep the former Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, behind bars until after the 2027 election.

Ibe, in a post on his Facebook page on Wednesday, lamented that Nasir El-Rufai has been in detention for 126 days.

Ibe said Tinubu’s administration is harassing and intimidating El-Rufai for defecting from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the ADC.

Ibe also described El-Rufai’s ongoing trial as a sham and politically motivated.

He wrote, “Yesterday was day 126 of the abduction and detention of Mallam Nasir el-Rufai @elrufai, former Governor of Kaduna State and chieftain of the @ADCNig.

“It should be clear to all by now, irrespective of political leaning, that the Tinubu led APC administration is harassing and intimidating el-Rufai for breaking away from the APC.

“The ADC chieftain’s sham trial is politically motivated. We have heard people urging him to go and make “peace” (whatever that means) with President Bola Tinubu, who is allegedly determined to keep him until after the 2027 elections.

“The fact that his trial has been postponed until September appears to confirm this. While the bail conditions granted to el-Rufai are overly punitive and meant to keep him perpetually in detention.

“Indeed, the bail conditions only encourages civil servants to loot maximally and acquire assets and properties at all cost while in service.”
