Brigadier Kingsley C. Uwa, Commander of 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke OPWS, has called for a renewed commitment to peaceful coexistence in Taraba State’s Ibi local government council, cautioning that security forces will no longer put up with acts that could incite violence.

During a security meeting for stakeholders on Wednesday at the Palace of the Chief of Ibi, Brigadier Uwa made the call.

He claimed that the purpose of the meeting was to discuss the escalating criminal activity and ongoing community tensions that are plaguing a number of local communities.

He denounced recent accounts of people stopping farmers from harvesting their crops, characterizing such actions as risky provocations that might turn into violent altercations.

He further emphasized that going forward, security authorities would take immediate action against anyone engaged in such misbehavior.

Additionally, the Brigade Commander reminded community leaders and traditional rulers of their duty to uphold peace inside their territories and threatened to take strong action against anyone found inciting crises.

Our reporter witnessed the gathering, which included members of several security services, government officials, community leaders, and traditional rulers.

Threats such unlawful crop harvesting, disagreements over farmland, the inflow of criminals from neighboring states, and unsolved chieftaincy concerns in Dampar, Tapga, Sarkin Kudu, and Gidan Kiye were also discussed.
