Acclaimed filmmaker and director Dimbo Atiya is dead and the Nigerian film industry has been thrown into mourning.
Nollywood actor Mofe Duncan announced the death on social media and paid tribute to the late director, expressing sadness over the loss.
The cause of death has not yet been made public, but the announcement has triggered an outpouring of grief from colleagues, actors and fans, many of whom have taken to social media to celebrate Dimbo Atiya’s contributions to the Nigerian film industry.

Atiay is respected for his work behind the camera and for directing and producing a number of notable projects. He has helped shape the careers of many actors and has contributed to the growth of Nollywood.
Members of the entertainment industry have continued to pay tribute, calling him a talented filmmaker, mentor and creative force, whose legacy will live on through his work.
The family has not made any funeral arrangements yet.
