The presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, has called for the increase of the salaries of Nigerian workers.
“Workers should earn N500,000 monthly,” he said.
He shared his thoughts in a statement posted on his verified 𝕏 handle on Friday, it was reported.
A human rights activist has charged Nigerians to vote for leaders who really want the betterment of Nigerian workers, not those who have always treated workers like enemies.
His comment is in reaction to the demand for a new minimum wage of ₦500,000 by the Nigeria Labor Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC).

The demand was made by the two unions at the Nigeria Rights of Workers Summit held on Thursday in Birnin Kebbi, the Kebbi State Capital.
Reacting, Sowore said: “Oh finally! It is heartening that the leadership of the NLC and TUC have at last come to the same position the African Action Congress adopted long ago.
“Nigerian workers deserve a national minimum wage of not less than N500,000. In the face of the country’s economic realities and soaring cost of living, the demand is both necessary and long overdue.
“With the consensus reached, the focus has to move from declarations to action. “Let us unite and fight until Nigerian workers earn a living wage of not less than ₦500,000.”
