The Association of Nigerian Theatre Arts Practitioners (ANTP) has denied rumors that Olalere Paimo, a seasoned Nollywood actor, has passed away.

The movie star’s passing was previously revealed in an Instagram post on Saturday by celebrity journalist and Best of Nollywood Awards Chairman Seun Oleketuyi.

Oleketuyi claims that the cultural hero Paimo survived a stroke twice before passing away.

“Chief Lere Paimo (MON) is dead,” he wrote. At 86, Baba passed away.

“A powerful man. Baba made it through two strokes.

“May Baba’s soul find peace.”

But in a statement issued on Saturday and signed by Prince Adejonwo Oluwafemi Femson, the National Public Relations Officer, the ANTP affirmed that the actor, better known by his stage name Baba Eda Onile Ola, is still alive and well.

“We would like to notify the public that reports circulating on Facebook regarding the passing of Chief Olalere OsunPaimo (MFR) are false,” the message said.

“We have verified that Baba Eda Onile Ola is still alive and well with his wife.

“Please ignore these false reports and be mindful that dishonest people are spreading them.”

ANTP warned against the dissemination of false information and advised people to confirm information before sharing unverified news.

The message read, “We urge everyone to verify information before sharing to avoid spreading misinformation.”
