As Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), steps up continuing efforts to secure his release, Abia State Governor Alex Otti has advised him to maintain composure and resolve.

Otti reportedly gave Nnamdi Kanu assurances when he visited the IPOB leader at the Sokoto Correctional Center.

In a statement released on Sunday evening, Ferdinand Ekeoma, his Special Advisor on Media and Publicity, revealed this.

Otti informed Nnamdi Kanu that the procedures he started over two years ago to resolve the matter had “heightened despite recent developments.” Otti was accompanied by Ikechukwu Uwanna (SAN), the Abia State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice; Kanu’s younger brother, Prince Emmanuel Kanu; and senior Sokoto State government officials.

Kanu was urged to “remain calm but strong” by the governor, who assured him that the issue “will be resolved administratively” and that he would finally be freed.

Additionally, he was pleased that the Sultan of Sokoto agreed with him regarding the necessity of Kanu’s release as well as the general reduction of tensions in the area.

In response, Kanu allegedly thanked Otti for the gesture and was apparently in a good mood during the visit.

He informed the governor that any initiative aimed at enhancing the welfare of the populace and good government were his top priorities.

In addition, he prayed for Otti and his group’s continued service to the state.

Kanu was “all smiles” at the encounter, according to the Abia government, and he expressed gratitude for the ongoing efforts to help him.

Recall that after Kanu was sentenced to life in prison, Governor Otti revealed that the IPOB leader was already being freed, emphasizing that a release mechanism had been discreetly activated “during the trial.”

Kanu was imprisoned after being convicted of offenses related to terrorism.
