Real Warri Pikin apologises over viral video with Timaya

Warri Pikin has explained the circumstances surrounding a viral stage moment with singer Timaya after the video attracted criticism across social media.

The comedian, whose full name is Anita Asuoha, was recently seen performing alongside Timaya, leading to questions from some members of the public over the nature of their interaction.

Some critics argued that the display crossed the line, particularly because Warri Pikin is married.

Addressing the controversy, she said the incident happened spontaneously while she was enjoying Timaya’s performance from backstage.

According to the comedienne, Timaya called for a woman to come on stage during his performance of “Ukwu.” She said she became excited and went onto the stage without fully considering what would follow.

Warri Pikin said she initially told the singer she could not participate when he asked her to jump on him. However, she eventually gave in after being reminded that she had come out and should allow the performance to continue.

She acknowledged that what happened on stage appeared entertaining at the time but accepted that the video looked inappropriate to some people after it was shared online.

The comedian said her husband, Ikechukwu, was angry about the situation, adding to the pressure surrounding the incident.

She subsequently apologised publicly and asked her followers to forgive her.

Warri Pikin stressed that the incident was not consistent with her character and said she remained firmly committed to her marriage.

She also appealed to people who criticised her out of genuine concern to understand that she had taken their concerns seriously.

The entertainer described the episode as an awkward situation and accepted that she should have exercised greater caution.

She said the controversy had provided an opportunity for her to reflect on how her actions during public performances could be interpreted outside the event itself.
