I didn’t reject APC council list because of trolls – Toyin Abraham

Toyin Abraham has explained that she rejected her reported inclusion in the Lagos State APC Campaign Council after discovering that her name had been published without her knowledge.

The actress and filmmaker made the clarification on Friday while responding to a social media user who linked her decision to online bullying.

Abraham said the decision had nothing to do with avoiding bullies. She explained that she rejected the reported appointment because she had not been consulted and had already stated that she was not interested in politics.

The controversy began after the Lagos APC campaign council released its structure on Thursday ahead of its scheduled inauguration.

Abraham’s name appeared among members of the Entertainment and Creative Economy Directorate, alongside several other actors and musicians.

Following the publication, she took to Instagram to clarify that she was not a member of any campaign council and was staying out of politics. She subsequently asked the public to disregard her reported inclusion.

The entertainment directorate includes prominent figures such as Jide Kosoko, Eniola Badmus, Bimbo Akintola, Adebayo Salami, Saheed Balogun and Bukky Wright.

Toke Benson-Awoyinka was named Director of the directorate, with Kosoko as Co-Director and Badmus as Deputy Director.

Abraham’s latest statement has therefore clarified the difference between her name appearing on the published council document and her stated position that she did not agree to participate.

At the time of the reports, her name remained on the published list despite her public rejection of the reported appointment.
