Dolly Parton’s Sister Addresses Reports of Family Tension
Dolly Parton’s younger sister, Freida Parton, has spoken out to dismiss reports that the family is divided over the late singer’s estate.
Freida took to Instagram on September 23 to directly address speculation surrounding the Parton/Owens family.
She stated that there was no feud among relatives and insisted that nobody in the family was fighting over Dolly’s estate.
“I’ll say this and this only: there is no feud within our family,” Freida wrote.
The clarification followed a legal dispute involving Dolly’s nephew, Bryan Seaver, who had worked as head of security for some of Dolly’s properties.
Seaver was reportedly selected to announce Dolly’s death but was subsequently removed from the security arrangement.
The situation escalated when Dolly’s longtime manager, Danny Nozell, sought legal protection against Seaver.
Court filings connected to the estate accused Seaver of making threatening statements. Seaver has disputed that characterization, saying his messages should not be regarded as threats.
A Tennessee judge has since issued a temporary restraining order against Seaver and his private security company.
The legal action led to speculation about whether the dispute reflected disagreements within Dolly’s family.
Freida has rejected that suggestion.
She specifically defended her nephew, saying the family had not turned against him despite the ongoing legal proceedings.
“We all love Bryan, just as we all love each other,” she wrote.
Freida’s comments come weeks after Dolly died at the age of 80 on August 25, prompting an outpouring of tributes from around the world.
Since her death, attention has also focused on the management of her estate and the people involved in handling her properties and affairs.
Freida’s statement seeks to make a distinction between the legal dispute involving Seaver and the personal relationships among members of the family.
She insisted that the Parton/Owens family remains united despite the controversy.
The legal case involving Seaver remains a separate matter, with the temporary restraining order currently in place.
