Actress Eniola Badmus has apologised to her colleague, Laide Bakare, after her reaction to Bakare’s name during a podcast interview sparked controversy on social media.
Badmus made the apology public on Tuesday through a statement shared on Instagram, acknowledging that her response during Isbae U’s Curiosity Made Me Ask podcast might have conveyed the wrong impression.
The actress explained that, upon reflection, she understood how her reaction could have appeared dismissive and expressed regret over the incident.
“On reflection, I realise my reaction when Laide Bakare’s name was mentioned during my recent interview could have come across as dismissive, and for that, I sincerely apologise,” she wrote.
She subsequently addressed Bakare directly, expressing goodwill despite whatever differences might exist between them.

“Laide, whatever our differences, I choose peace, and I genuinely wish you well,” Badmus stated.
The actress also used the opportunity to speak about maturity and the importance of moving beyond past disagreements.
She noted that people are constantly learning and developing, adding that personal growth sometimes requires individuals to let go of issues that could otherwise prolong conflict.
“We’re all growing, learning and becoming better versions of ourselves. Sometimes maturity is simply knowing when to let go and move forward,” she said.
Badmus ended her message with a plea for reconciliation, writing, “Joo maa binu. No negativity. No grudges. Let love lead and peace reign.”
The development follows the circulation of a video from the podcast in which Isbae U mentioned Bakare as one of his favourite actresses. Badmus’ facial expression at the mention of her colleague’s name became a subject of online discussion.
The incident attracted criticism from some social media users and brought renewed attention to the relationship between the two actresses.
Reacting to the apology, Isbae U encouraged both women to embrace peace.
“Let love lead. Na my interview go fix Nigeria in whole. I love you both so much. You both should give me a kiss,” he wrote.
With her statement, Badmus has publicly expressed regret over the incident and indicated that she would prefer reconciliation to further controversy.
