Comrade Timi Frank, former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the APC, has linked the United States’ recent visa ban on certain Nigerians to the government’s persistent failure to confront terrorism and its sponsors head-on. In a statement issued Friday, Frank argued that the intervention by President Donald Trump’s administration was long overdue.

He noted that the U.S. policy targeting terror financiers and sympathizers in Nigeria marks a significant shift in Washington’s approach toward Abuja. According to him, the decision reflects global frustration over Nigeria’s lack of transparency and weak political will in fighting insecurity.

Frank applauded President Trump and the U.S. Congress for taking steps that he believes Nigerian leaders have deliberately avoided. He described the sanctions as both a diplomatic signal and a wake-up call that could force Nigeria to address long-standing issues related to terror funding.

The former APC spokesman also pointed to the still-unreleased list of alleged terror sponsors reportedly uncovered by the UAE. He blamed political interference for the government’s refusal to publish the names or prosecute the individuals involved.

Frank argued that the intersection of corruption, political interests, and selective justice has crippled Nigeria’s ability to curb rising insecurity. He urged the U.S. to be cautious with intelligence sharing until Nigeria demonstrates real accountability.

He stressed that without American pressure, Nigerian leaders would have continued to overlook the problem. “Their intervention has exposed what our leaders have consistently refused to confront,” he said, adding that many Nigerians now feel hopeful that the tide may finally turn.
