Governor Peter Mbah’s proposed ₦1.62 trillion budget for the 2026 fiscal year has been commended by the Enugu State Caucus in the House of Representatives, which described it as bold, strategic, and based on a clear vision for accelerated economic development.

Enugu State’s annual budgets have consistently increased since Governor Mbah took office, according to a statement signed by the Caucus Leader, Rt. Hon. Nnolim Nnaji.

According to them, the trend is an intentional and organized road map for economic change.

From N521.5 billion in 2024 to N971.084 in 2025 to N1.62 trillion in 2026, the Caucus emphasized the consistent budget growth.

The lawmakers claim that this increasing trend shows that Governor Mbah’s strategy to increase the state’s GDP from $4.4 billion to $30 billion a year is already producing noticeable outcomes.

They praised the budget’s heavy emphasis on social welfare, education, healthcare, infrastructure development, and economic growth—areas they said are essential to sustainable development and improved citizen quality of life.

The use of cutting-edge drone monitoring technology by Governor Mbah to bolster state security was also praised by the lawmakers.

They pointed out that the invention has significantly improved public safety overall and decreased kidnapping incidents.

The lawmakers reaffirmed their support for the governor and promised to work with his administration going forward to achieve policies that boost security, advance economic growth, and improve the welfare of Enugu State’s citizens.
