Nollywood actress Bimbo Akintola has disclosed the rationale for her steadfast and ardent support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. She claims that her choice to increase her support for the current president was influenced by a personal encounter with an opposition supporter.
In a recent appearance on With Chude, Akintola revealed how her initial support for Tinubu during the previous election intensified after she was verbally harassed for her decision by an opposition fan.
The actress stated that she decided to increase her support for Tinubu as a result of the bullying.
Akintola revealed that the intimidation she endured for supporting Tinubu caused her to change her political views. In reaction to the criticism, she decided to strengthen her support for the then-APC candidate rather than give up.
Akintola also emphasized the value of respecting other people’s political beliefs and decisions throughout the discussion.
“I supported President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during the last election because someone irritated me with their bullying,” she declared.
“Nigerians are obnoxious.” Avoid harassing others. We are entitled to disagreements. You have the right to dislike this man [Tinubu] if you don’t like him. It’s excellent that you prefer this individual. However, don’t harass people.
“They harassed Auntie Joke [Silva] to the extent that someone wrote something so cruel. I therefore created a video in which I declared, “I’m also supporting Tinubu, kill me, let me see if you can change my mind.”
“We must end bullying. We must acknowledge that we will never be in agreement with everyone. We are great and attractive because of that. It would be an uninteresting life if everyone were identical. You may disagree that he was the ideal candidate for the position till tomorrow, but at that time, I desired and voted for him. My voice belongs to me and cannot be taken away.
