Escravos-Lagos Pipeline Incident Contained, NNPC Provides Update

NNPC Limited has given an update on the incident that was reported on Thursday, December 11, 2025, on a portion of the Escravos–Lagos Pipeline System (ELPS) in South-West Warri, Delta State.

Andy Odeh, Chief Corporate Communications Officer of NNPC Ltd. Abuja, explained in a press release that coordinated containment procedures have been effectively implemented, guaranteeing the security of host communities, staff, and the environment.

The company specifically stated that all pertinent pipeline segments have been securely and safely disconnected.

“A joint preliminary inspection involving NNPC Limited, the Nigeria Midstream & Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) technical teams, and maintenance contractors has been conducted at the affected site,” the statement said in part.

The network’s operator, NNPC Gas Infrastructure Company (NGIC), has triggered its Business Continuity Plan to handle the effects on all impacted parties, including suppliers and shippers.

NNPC Ltd. values the ongoing support and collaboration of host communities, state authorities, and other important stakeholders and keeps lines of communication open.
