Following the investigation panel’s report on the assault on Abdulrahman Abubakar Sheriff, the councillor for Shamaki Ward in Gombe Local Government Area, Gombe State Governor Inuwa Yahaya has ordered the discharge of four aides.
The special committee that looked into the event declared all four aides guilty, according to a statement made by Ismaila Uba Misilli, Director-General (Press Affairs), Government House, Gombe.
The affected aides were identified as Adamu Abdullahi Danko (Senior Special Assistant II, Domestic), Garba Mohammed Mai Rago (Senior Special Assistant II, Political), Rabiu Sulaiman Abubakar (Senior Special Assistant II, Social Media), and Ali Ibrahim Baban Kaya (Senior Special Assistant II, Community Relations). The decision was communicated by Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi.
The statement further stated that the Governor’s decision was influenced by the committee’s conclusions, which were further supported by reports from security agencies.
Governor Yahaya ordered the disengagement to begin right now.
According to reports, all impacted personnel have also been told to promptly turn over any government property they own to the relevant authorities.
“Governor Inuwa Yahaya reiterated his administration’s zero tolerance policy for violence, misconduct, and abuse of office, emphasizing that acts that could jeopardize public safety or erode public trust in the government will not be tolerated.”
The statement ended, “He assured the people of Gombe State of his government’s commitment to the rule of law, accountability, and peaceful coexistence, adding that decisive measures will always be taken to safeguard public order and sustain the state’s hard-earned stability.”
