A lawsuit to halt the application of the new tax legislation by January 1, 2026, was dismissed by a High Court in Abuja, the nation’s capital.
The plaintiffs were unable to provide legal justification or irreversible harm to halt the implementation, according to Justice Kawu, who delivered the ruling.
The Nigeria Tax Act 2025 can be implemented by the federal government, the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), and the National Assembly on January 1, 2026, in accordance with the ruling.
