Yunusa Tanko, the National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement Worldwide, revealed that the movement would function inside the African Democratic Congress (ADC) when Peter Obi defected to the party.

He said the Obidient Movement would support Peter Obi in his new party and function within democratic norms.

According to reports, Tanko made the statement on Thursday during an appearance on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief in response to Obi’s defection from the Labour Party to ADC.

He said he was hoping Obi will win the ADC ticket.

“As Democrats, we’ll enter the race and compete fairly with each candidate according to democratic principles. With the vast teaming population he is bringing into the ADC, we think Mr. Peter Obi will ultimately prevail,” he stated.

He did, however, add that the Obidient movement will uphold democratic ideals if Obi lost the ADC presidential nomination to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.

When asked what the movement would do if Atiku Abubakar, the former vice president, won the party primary, Yunusa responded, “We will stay at the party and give the party the lease of life it demands democratically.”

“With all due respect to the ADC, it gained traction when people started to agree.” His Excellency Mr. Peter Obi’s enthusiasm was evident yesterday when the ADC vehicle ignited with just one kick.

Several members of the Obidient Movement are prepared to relocate to the ADC, he continued.

“They have made it quite obvious that they would be investing millions of dollars in the ADC. He said, “That is an affirmation.”
