The human mind, like all things connected to the human nature, is built on ‘the clay principle’. It is infinitely elastic. It can be stretched to unimaginable points. From this principle follows many truths. The mind has infinite power. The human mind has the capacity to attain all things, good or bad. But the quality of the mind depends to a large extent on its content. There are basically two sources by which the human mind is fed: one is sensory, the other is extra sensory. The sensory channel is represented by the eyes; the eyes are the broadest and most effective sensory source of supply to the human mind. What is perceived by the eyes determines the content of the mind, to a large degree; this ‘mind content’, in turn determines the quality of the mind and the character and worth of its possessor
The mind and the ancillary intellect both of which constitute the faculty of reason remains the sole greatest asset to man. The mind is a complete system, comprising all necessary faculties, key among which is the faculty of sight. Yes, the mind has an eye, a supremely powerful and effective one. That single mind’s eye can see farther and more clearly than thousands of ordinary biological eyes. Intuition is one of the eyes of the mind, so also is clairvoyance any many other ‘eyes’ unavailable, unattainable and unknowable to ordinary men!
Another aspect of the mind is its garden-like quality. The mind is like a garden and every seed planted in it multiplies, grows and matures to fruition. For this reason, men ought to be careful with what they feed their minds, for whatever the mind is fed with grows like a tree and produces fruits. The fruits of the mind decide the fate of all aspects of the man2. We live in the mind. Our fates are fixed in our minds. We fail and succeed in the mind. In the words of Dr. Wayne, the state of a man’s life is merely a reflection of the state of his mind. Until we are defeated in our minds we can never be defeated. And until we die in the mind, we can never die3.
An instance in the negative: when a man shuts his mind against nude women, harlots rape inducers and all indecent appearances, the urge for sex in him will slide into slumber, and cannot wake until it is awakened, by the introduction into the mind, of indecent and pornographic forms.(this is validated by many personal experiences) The best way therefore to stay above the realm of baseness and indeed exercise supreme control over one’s life and destiny is to regulate the content of our minds: a positive mind makes a positive destiny, and vice versa. On the positive arm: there is no limit to human destiny. God did not place one, and no one else can.
The second source is extra sensory and materials in this category enter the mind through windows and pigeon holes as opposed to the wide doors represented by the eyes. They take the form of imagination, thought flashes, hunches, meditation and all forms of abstract intellectual activities (not just mental, for many a mental activity are base and banal). Intuition and clairvoyance earlier mentioned actually belong to this family.
Although they may be reflexive and involuntary, a great degree of the ingress into the bowels of the mind is voluntary and consciously initiated. This area is the preserve of great and refined minds. Base men and mediocre fellows have no access to this advanced realm, although there are hierarchies even within this elite realm itself.
Note, however, that it is not in all cases that the mind is corrupt by exposure to negative phenomena. Accordingly, the degree, if any, to which the mind may be corrupted by negativities, is dependent on two factors: the strength of willpower and the degree of exposure. A sufficiently strong will can shut off any unwanted external influences. Similarly, the mind is only amenable to corruption when it is merely treated to a little dosage of the subject of exposure, but ironically, when it is treated to a full dosage of the thing in question, it naturally develops a sense of nausea and loathing, then resistance mechanism. It then ultimately grows immune to it. This is true of many aspects of nature like pathological science, human exposure to suffering, indulgence in sexual escapades, alcoholism etc.
