The driver of the Lexus SUV involved in the deadly collision that killed two of Anthony Joshua’s companions, Adeniyi Kayode, has been charged in court, according to the Ogun State Police Command.

According to reports, Kayode, 46, was charged on Friday in front of a Sagamu, Ogun State, Magistrate Court.

In a succinct statement, Mr. Oluseyi Babaseyi, the Ogun State Police Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, revealed the news.

The court postponed the case to January 20, 2026, for additional proceedings, the police official said.

Nevertheless, the authorities did not reveal the precise allegations that were favored against the accused or offer any information about the accident’s circumstances.

“The Ogun State Police Command wishes to inform the general public that the driver of the Lexus SUV involved in the Anthony Joshua accident case, Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode (male), aged 46, was charged to the Sagamu Magistrate Court today, January 2, 2026, and the case has been adjourned to January 20, 2026,” the statement said.

Following the sad collision on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway that claimed the lives of two members of Joshua’s squad, the police took action after the driver had been arrested earlier.

The arrest had been verified earlier by Babaseyi, who also mentioned that the investigation was still ongoing.

“The driver of the Lexus SUV is presently being held in relation to the accident case involving Anthony Joshua. There are ongoing investigations,” he said.
