Sunday Dare, President Bola Tinubu’s special adviser on media and public communication, has taken issue with former presidential candidate Peter Obi’s choice to join the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

In a statement headed “Imprisoned by ambition: Welcome to 2027, Peter Obi’s reckless misreading of politics and power,” the presidential adviser claimed that the defection had no bearing.

He insisted that Obi’s switch from the Labour Party (LP) to the ADC would not have a major effect on Nigerian politics.

He claimed that Obi’s transfer to the ADC was met with apathy, pointing out that it followed a pattern Nigerians were accustomed to.

He said that Obi’s political narrative was tiresome and that the change to ADC signified the end of a tried-and-true approach rather than a new one.

Additionally, Dare charged Obi with taking advantage of the occasion to launch standard assaults against President Tinubu, whom he characterized as having far greater political clout, expertise, and historical significance.

In contrast to public outbursts, manipulation, or populist rhetoric, he claimed that Tinubu leads through governance and policy.

Obi’s presidential aspirations, according to the presidential advisor, were not backed by solid democratic credentials or a well-constructed national coalition that represents Nigeria’s political variety.
