Solomon Dalung, former Minister of Youth and Sports, has remarked that President Bola Tinubu’s government has nothing to show despite the large volume of money generated by the withdrawal of gasoline subsidies.
Dalung, an African Democratic Congress (ADC) chieftain, reportedly claimed this on Channels Television’s Inside Sources with Laolu Akande on Sunday.
He claimed, “Tinubu’s government has made a lot of money from the withdrawal of fuel subsidies, but they have nothing to show for it. They have also received significant money from Value Added Tax (VAT), increases in electricity tariffs, data charges, and bank costs.
“They have also benefited greatly from the naira’s flotation. “Most of them have nothing to show.”
Speaking about the surge of defections to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Dalung stated that many governors are defecting for selfish reasons and will regret it.
He went on to say, “A lot of politicians are defecting to the All Progressives Congress, or APC, today because they want to align with Tinubu’s government. Joining the bandwagon is the only way for them to have a smooth landing. The danger they have not recognized is that if this election is organized as I know it will be, with the presidential election coming first, most governors will be shocked to their core.
“Nigeria is currently rapidly descending into the abyss. We are losing practically everything that defines our society. Nigeria is gifted with everything but a severe lack of leadership.”
