Sylvanus Nwankwo, the minority leader and member of the Rivers State House of Assembly representing the Omuma state constituency, and his colleague Peter Abbey, who represents the Degema Constituency, have reversed course in the current scheme to remove Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his deputy.
The two asked the State Assembly to reevaluate its action during a press conference in Port Harcourt on Monday.
They claim that the ruling came after “our elders and leaders” pleaded for forgiveness.
“Rivers State issued a notice of impeachment on Governor Fubara and his Deputy,” they stated. We urge our colleagues to find a way to resolve this issue without going through the impeachment process by tempering justice with kindness.
“Even though the governor and his deputy have violated the Constitution, we are pleading with our colleagues to reevaluate our actions and see how this matter can be resolved amicably after hearing so many calls from our elders and leaders, both inside and outside the state.”
According to reports, the governor and his epDuty received an impeachment notification on Thursday of last week because to alleged egregious wrongdoing.
