Tuesday morning marked the second meltdown of Nigeria’s national energy system since January 2026.
This year’s first grid breakdown happened just last Friday.
The Nigeria National Grid on X verified this most recent failure at approximately 10:53 a.m.
“Grid Collapse” was the only word on the post.
“Restoration is in progress,” a subsequent tweet stated.
Data from the Nigerian Independent System Operator, or NISO, indicates that power generation has dropped to zero megawatts.
Ikeja, Jos, Kaduna, Kano, Benin, Eko, Enugu, Port Harcourt, Ibadan, Abuja, and Yola are among the distribution companies that are impacted.
