Afrobeats musician Damini Ogulu, better known by his stage name Burna Boy, has talked candidly about his friendship with the late South African rapper AKA.
According to reports, the two broke up in 2019 after Burna Boy promised to “deal” with AKA if they ever crossed paths.
Following screenshots of hate messages he purportedly received from Nigerian accounts over AFCON quarterfinal match banter, the South African rapper is accused of inciting xenophobic crimes against Nigerians in South Africa.
Speaking about the conflict, Burna Boy has recently disclosed that they resolved their differences prior to the rapper’s death.
However, Burna Boy expressed grief that AKA died before they could carry out some of their ideas and collaborations in a posthumous birthday tribute to the late rapper via his Instagram site.
“Happy birthday, Supa Mega,” wrote Burna Boy. Even though we resolved our disagreement over Twitter direct messages that no one saw, we never had the opportunity to truly connect and carry out our assigned tasks. Until I see you again, I shall regret that. Until then, Mega, RIP.
Recall that on February 10, 2023, AKA was shot and killed by a gunman outside a Durban restaurant.
His murder trial is still in progress.
