NYSC DG Advises 2026 Batch ‘A’ Corps Members on Respecting Local Traditions

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Director General, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, has exhorted corps members to respect local customs, remain committed to their duties, and significantly advance Nigeria’s socioeconomic development.

Nafiu gave the advice while addressing the 2026 Batch “A” Stream One corps members at the NYSC orientation camps in Ogun and Oyo states, according to a statement released on the NYSC National Directorate Headquarters 𝕏 account on Saturday.

He commended the corps members for answering the call to serve their country and encouraged them to approach their service year with discipline, creativity, and a strong sense of duty.

He also underlined the need of responsible personal money management, emphasizing that sound financial habits may be helpful both during and after the service year.

Additionally, the head of NYSC urged participants to continue acting appropriately in their host communities and places of employment.When you are assigned to your primary assignment, follow their regulations, be punctual, be resourceful, and familiarize yourself with the organization’s culture,” Nafiu suggested.

3,341 corps members registered in the Ogun State orientation camp, with 975 of them first sent to Lagos State, according to NYSC Coordinator Mrs. Olayinka Nasamu.

She praised their actions, pointing out that they had “conducted themselves responsibly and adapted to the regimented camp life” and that “all camp officials are also performing their duties diligently with high sense of synergy.”

3,068 corps members have completed the registration process, according to Mr. Kayode Ola Peters, the NYSC Coordinator in Oyo State. He emphasized that attendees had shown great character, participated completely in camp activities, and showed a commitment to promote many aspects of national development.

The NYSC had already announced that the 2026 Batch “A” Stream I Orientation Course would start on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, in all 37 orientation sites across the country.From Wednesday, January 21 until Friday, January 23 at midnight, all Corps members will be able to register for camp,” he said.
