A renowned Boko Haram/ISWAP commander has been murdered by soldiers of the Joint Task Force (North East) “Operation HADIN KAI” (OPHK).
This was revealed in a statement released on Saturday in Maiduguri by Lt. Col. Sani Uba, Media Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task, OPHK.
On January 30, 2026, the terrorist was murdered during a confrontation in the vicinity of Kimba, Damboa LGA, Borno State.
“Troops of OPHK recorded major operational successes across the North-East, neutralizing high-value terrorist targets, disrupting insurgent activities, and foiling criminal operations through sustained, intelligence-driven actions,” the release states.
In a major development, intelligence has verified that JULAIBIB, a senior ISWAP commander working in the Gujba axis of the Timbuktu Triangle, was killed on January 30, 2026, during an engagement near Kimba, Damboa LGA of Borno State.
According to additional intelligence, ISWAP elements in the region are in disarray as a result of the terrorist leader’s removal, with multiple militants apparently neutralized during the operation. This amazing development reflects a huge blow to the command and control system of ISWAP in the region.
In a subsequent operation, three terrorists were killed by OPHK forces and the Civilian Joint Task Force after a well-planned ambush between the Ngazalgana and Lamusheri communities in Borno State.
The operation was based on reliable information about local rebel activity. Three rebels were neutralized and others fled with bullet wounds after troops strategically set up an ambush along the designated path and attacked the terrorists with potent weapons. At the scene, two AK-47 firearms were found. The operation is a component of ongoing attempts to restrict terrorists’ freedom of movement and weaken their ability to operate throughout the theater.
To further solidify these victories, troops stationed in an ambush position in Tsokorok, Gwoza LGA of Borno State, encountered BH/ISWAP terrorists on January 29, 2026.
“The ambush team engaged the terrorists, forcing them to withdraw. No troop injuries were reported, and one terrorist was neutralized. Two motorcycles were found at the location.
