Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State has described the Federal Government reforms in all sectors of the economy as people-oriented, pointing out that the problems with the reforms are that a good number of Nigerians do not understand them.
Speaking at the inauguration of Renewed Hope Ambassadors, Abia State chapter in Umuahia, Ozodinma, represented by the Minister of Labour and Productivity, Barr. Nkeiruka Onyejiocha blamed the poor understanding of the Federal Government’s various reforms on the “enemies of Bola Tinubu”.
The President’s enemies, the Imo governor insisted, are working assiduously to undermine his administration by convincing the people that Tinubu is not doing enough “while he is performing marvelously in all sectors”.
According to him, even though some of these reforms will come with temporary discomfort, they are necessary for long-term effect because of their well-articulated design and programming.
He charged the Renewed Hope Ambassadors’ Coordinators in the 17 LGAs of Abia State and those in the Senatorial zones of the state to work hard to explain the President’s agenda to the people.
“The Renewed Hope agenda requires the participation of the citizens. You must be a mobiliser, innovative, responsive, inclusive, transparent, accountable, and most importantly, you must carry the people along. I wouldn’t say it’s going to be a smooth ride, but with dedication, you will get there.
“I want to remind those inaugurated today that millions of Nigerians are watching them and through the Renewed Hope, they are the human face the people are seeing. You should ensure that the people know the achievements of Mr President, especially in Southeast,” he asserted.
In his speech, the Abia State Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr Kingsley Ononogbu, thanked the President for finding Uzodinma worthy to serve as Director General of the organization, even as he commended him for also naming the Imo governor as the Director-General of the APC’s outreach called the Engagement and Mobilization forum.
While outlining some of the ongoing projects in the state being executed by the Federal Government, like NDDC-powered solar street lights across many LGAs in the state and others done in the Southeast by the government, the APC State Chairman lauded Tinubu for appointing Engr. David Umahi as the Minister of Works and Sen. Hope Uzodinma as the Progressive Governors Forum Chairman, amongst other appointments.
Ononogbo used the forum to appreciate APC leaders in the state, like High Chief Ikechi Emenike, Sen. Orji Uzor Kalu, Rt Hon.Ben Kalu, Senator Nkechi Nwaogu, Hon. Nkeriuka Onyejiocha, and commended them for their team spirit in moving the party forward in Abia State.
In an interview with journalists later, Senator Nwaogu described the President as a performer, regretting that his achievements in Nigeria, particularly in the Southeast geopolitical zone, are not well publicized due to some factors.
“It’s safe to say that the APC government of Tinubu has done very well. Its empowerment programme is second to none. Its economic blueprint is well articulated. Today, people from the remotest part of the nation receive money to enable them survive.
“Today’s event marks the beginning of a new dawn in Abia. It is a display of reaffirmation of our collective belief in visionary leadership of Mr President and his responsive governance across the country”, the former Senator who represented Abia Central declared.
Abia State Coordinator of Renewed Hope Ambassadors and former minister, Chief Henry Ikoh, who also spoke at the event, said history was made in Abia because of the inauguration of the body, even as he reminded the party faithful at the ceremony of the need to carry the message of hope to the grassroots.
“The message is clear: to reelect Mr President and all other APC candidates in the 2027 general elections.
“On behalf of Mr President and the Director General, Senator Hope Uzodinma, you are inaugurated today. Your job is to ensure that APC is reelected. You should take the message to your LGAs and the grassroots and also tell them what the President has done and what they stand to gain if the President is reelected”, he declared.
