ADC Tells Tinubu: Taking Umahi’s Words Seriously Is a Fool’s Game

According to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) branch in Enugu State, Dave Umahi, the minister of works, is giving President Bola Tinubu false hope that the South East zone will support his bid for reelection.

Comrade Adolphus Ude, the National Coordinator of ADC Like-Minds, issued a press release on Monday in which the party urged Umahi to provide specific examples of the changes that have occurred in the South East since Tinubu assumed office.

The party was responding to Umahi’s claim that 90% of the South-East geopolitical zone will support Tinubu’s win in the February 20, 2027, presidential election.

Instead of telling the president the truth, Umahi was deceiving him, which infuriated the ADC.

According to the statement, “The South-East geopolitical zone will mobilize 90 percent support for President Bola Tinubu’s victory in the February 20, 2027 presidential election,” according to a remark made by Works Minister Dave Umahi, which caught the attention of Enugu ADC. Among other unguarded remarks, Umahi stated that the South East has not yet produced the president. He also cautioned that the region will suffer if Tinubu wasn’t supported.

Since we are aware that sycophancy is Umahi’s specialty, we are not shocked or alarmed by his statements. He recently publicly stated that he made more money in less than three years as a minister than he did in eight years as governor. We don’t hold it against him.

In fact, we suspect that he likely thought he could mortgage 90 percent of the South-East votes to his principal in 2027 since he was so excited about the money he had made as a minister. The President will suffer if he takes the advise of someone who is drunk on money too seriously.

The South-East has turned into a “no go area” for the APC as a result of the recent realignment of prominent Igbo political personalities with the ADC, including Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate. Similar to how the Labour Party dominated in 2023, the ADC will control the South-East polls in 2027.

“Mr. President is being given false optimism by Umahi that the South East zone will strongly back his reelection. If Tinubu follows his minister’s advice, he will be living in a fool’s paradise.

Enugu ADC went on to remember that Tinubu received less than 10% of the total votes cast in 2023 and lost badly in each of the five South East states: Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, and Imo.

The party claims that despite Dave Umahi’s bluster as the governor of Ebonyi State at the time, Tinubu was only able to receive 13 percent of the state’s votes in the most recent presidential election.

It insisted that nothing has occurred during the Tinubu government to ensure that the South-East’s ruling party will have a favorable outcome in the next 2027 elections.

Since the South-East was egregiously left out of President Tinubu’s administration’s distribution of federal infrastructure, intervention funds, and appointments, Enugu ADC maintained that the region owes him nothing.
