Voters in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have been informed by Prof. Joash Amupitan (SAN), the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, that the commission will broadcast all election results in real time from polling places.

He confirmed that since the technology was implemented, the commission has been using the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BiVAS) to send election results in real time. He also stated that the commission is prepared for the FCT elections, which are set for Saturday, February 21, 2026.

Following an evaluation of the readiness of three Area Councils—Kuje, Gwagwalada, and Bwari—the INEC chief provided the guarantees in an interview with reporters in Abuja.

He guaranteed that he had no concerns that the commission will conduct a credible and acceptable election, while expressing trust in the Electoral Officers’ (EO) level of readiness.

“I have confirmed that the report they provided us with is accurate. They claimed to be 99.9% prepared for this election in Kuje. They claimed to be 90.8% prepared for this election in Gwagwalada. They also claimed to be completely prepared for the poll in Bwari.

This implies that there should be no justification for any kind of misconduct. It is hoped that the election would go quite nicely.

And I’m confident that by acting rather than just talking, we’ll start to improve the perception of our election.

So I’m pretty happy. All of the non-sensitive materials have been bundled. Additionally, I visited the businesses to make sure everything was set up.

According to Prof. Amupitan, since the BVAS was implemented, the commission has been sending out election results in real time.

“BVAS has the ability to upload and send the results in addition to accrediting them. Thus, the results will undoubtedly be shared.

In order to protect both voters and staff, he reaffirmed that an election is considered successful if election materials are distributed on schedule and there is sufficient protection on the ground. He also stated that INEC will not lower its standards.

He added that by teaching the EOs about the procedure that will ensure a credible election, lower voter apathy, and rebuild Nigerians’ faith in the system,

Voter indifference is a problem that we wish to solve. We aim to do everything we can to fulfill Nigerians’ dreams. They have the right to make requests, and we will take all legal measures to guarantee that we can fulfill our obligations as that is one way we can start to restore the somewhat damaged faith.

“On Friday, security personnel ought to be present at the RAC. To make it easier for you to deploy and move early on Saturday morning, at 6 or 7 a.m., to set out so that you can travel to your polling booth, materials can arrive on time, and voting should begin at 8.30, all poll officials must be present at the RAC on that Friday.

“Make sure that by the time you start on time, you may close your vote at 2:30 if the election is peaceful and you manage the results well.

You begin counting, and when night falls, you’re done. You announce the outcome. You input the outcomes. Additionally, you uploaded the results.

“We have to key in our results after uploading them via IREV with the modifications we made. It’s crucial.

Therefore, even though the device we are attempting to bring in today will check itself, the coalition officials must check and cross-check when you proceed to the following step.

Make sure that whatever you upload will at least give us credit by double-checking.

This implies that even after we leave the office, we should be audited and told that these individuals did not appreciate our work while we were there, or if they were able to, they should.

There will always be others who don’t like it.

However, even if it’s for academic purposes, they have data to use to evaluate you once you’ve left the workplace.
And I ask God to assist us,” he continued.

According to their independent reports, Adamu Yakubu, the EO of Kuje, stated that his office is 99.9 percent prepared, Bola Abdullahi, his counterpart in Gwagwalada, stated that his office is 90.8 percent prepared, and Gloria Adeboye, the EO of Bwari, stated that his office is 100 percent prepared.

High-ranking INEC officials and commissioners, such as FCT Resident Electoral (REC) Aminu Idris, FCT Commissioner Operations Mallam Tukur Yusuf, Acting Director of the Electoral Institute Prof. Sani Ibrahim, and others, accompanied the Chairman on the tour.
