Four Suspects Arrested Over Murder Of Chief Imam In Kwara Community

Abdullahi Audu, the chief imam of the Tsaragi community, was allegedly brutally murdered in the Edu Local Government Area of Kwara state, and four suspects are currently being held by the police.

According to a statement released in Ilorin on Thursday by SP Adetoun Ejire Adeyemi, the state police command spokesperson, “On November 4, 2025, at about 9:30 p.m., one Ibrahim Gana ‘M,’ aged 25 years, a resident of Sokunkpan Village in Tsaragi, who had been ill and on admission at a hospital, sadly passed away.”

Following his passing, his brothers Mohammed Shaba and Mahmud Gana blamed Alh Abdullahi Audu, the village chief imam, for their brother’s passing.

The statement said, “Muhammad Shaaba and Mahmud Gana allegedly mobilized several other people and attacked the Chief Imam with offensive weapons, leading to his death in an act of mob violence.”

According to her, police officers started looking into the event right away, and four suspects were taken into custody. They are still working to apprehend more people who may be involved in the crime.

In response to the terrible event, Commissioner of Police Adekimi Ojo issued a warning against using jungle justice or enforcing the law on one’s own.

He urged the people to immediately report any suspicious activity to the closest police formation or through the command’s approved channels, declaring that such actions are illegal and subject to legal penalties.

Adekimi also informed all citizens of his steadfast commitment to upholding law and order, safety, and peace throughout the state.

The spokeswoman said that as the case’s investigations advance, further updates will be given.
