In a new initiative, the Nigerian Senate has increased the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) budget for the nation’s general elections in 2027.
The Senate is reportedly requesting an extra ₦30 billion so that INEC can hold the 2027 election.
The Senate’s electoral matters committee took the action after attributing the anticipated rise to logistical concerns.
Recall that INEC had originally suggested funding the elections with roughly ₦873 billion.
Details will be shared later.
