Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia has been encouraged by former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice Michael Aondoakaa (SAN) to make amends with Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) George Akume.

During an appearance on Arise Television’s “Morning Show” on Tuesday, Aondoakaa made the appeal.

He said that both sides have been instructed by President Bola Tinubu to put their swords down and pursue reconciliation.

“The President has directed a conciliatory process by the party regarding the differences between Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia and Secretary to the Government of the Federation George Akume,” the former AGF stated.

“I see nothing wrong with him approaching Akume in compliance with the President’s order, nor do I see it as disrespectful to the office of the Governor.”

His statement comes as the conflict between Alia and Akume intensified after last Wednesday’s All Progressives Congress (APC) ward congress, which was held throughout the state.

As you may remember, the crisis, which started soon after Alia took office in 2023, caused party members to divide into two groups.

Meanwhile, Regina Akume, the wife of Gboko/Tarka Federal Constituency legislator and Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), has officially reaffirmed her marriage to George Akume.

Despite public criticism of his family, she reportedly stated that she is still his wife.

The announcement was made by Mrs. Akume in a video taken during a New Year Mass. She stressed that her family is still united while speaking to the congregation in an emotional yet forceful manner.

“I want everyone to know that I still adore Mr. George Akume.” “He is my husband,” she declared.

“That is his son sitting there, and that is also his daughter,” she said, pointing to family members sat in the audience and naming them as she went.

The federal politician categorically declared that her marital status is unaltered, dismissing public rumors.

“That is my husband and that is my man.” He’s the only husband I have. As she said, “I don’t care what the world says,” congregants applauded.

Using the occasion, Mrs. Akume also talked about a recent medical setback, characterizing it as a trying time that tried her strength and faith.

She claims that she was healed by God and has totally recovered.

“I am grateful to God for healing me and restoring my health,” she remarked.

She also reiterated her Christian beliefs, calling God all-powerful and incomparable.

He is the Father Almighty. “No one is like Him, and no power is greater than His,” she said.

“There is no sacrifice anybody can offer that is above the sacrifice of our Lord Jesus on the cross,” she added, highlighting Christian views on redemption.

She made these remarks as public interest in the Akume family has grown in the wake of allegations that the SGF recently took a second wife, a decision that has sparked intense debate in both political and social circles.
