Alex Otti, the governor of Abia State, has verified two distinct kidnapping attempts in the state’s Umuahia South Local Government Area, in Olokoro and Ubakala.

During his February media talk, the governor stated security agents had acted quickly while speaking in Umuahia on Friday.

“I can guarantee you that the police are keeping a close eye on those incidents,” the governor stated.

In fact, the Commissioner of Police gave me a report on the two instances that occurred today. Even though these are isolated cases, they nevertheless occurred.

We must also put policies and processes in place to make sure that they don’t happen again because they did. They are isolated, though, and we have safeguards in place to make sure that doesn’t happen again.

According to reports, the suspects—who were thought to be livestock herders—left after Abia State Homeland Security agents stepped in. Last week, the occurrences took place.

Hotel Ownership in Enyimba and the Radisson Blu Agreement
Additionally, Governor Otti clarified the ownership structure of the Enyimba Hotel, which was recently designated for repair.

“The Abia State Government owns 80 percent,” he said. Families of members of the Aba Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture (ACCIMA) who made investments in the hotel hold the remaining 20%. By the time everything was evaluated, we had valuers, who are entitled to twenty percent.

Naturally, the state government has no plans to cling onto 80% of the vote. We will thus sell to you if you have money immediately. In order for Radisson Blu, an international hotel management company, to agree to take over your hotel, you have to put yourself in a certain position.

Before restoration started, he said, the state hired Radisson Blu.

It was fortunate that we were able to get them in before taking any action. Thus, they entered with their knowledge. The state of the hotel must be specific. You have to meet the minimum requirements for the five-star hotel. The governor stated, “They must first make sure the location can afford the hotel brand.

Before they sign the dotted lines, which they signed, I believe, last year, they must also have faith in the economy and in its management. They will therefore lend out their management, brand, and property, and we will own the property or any other investors.

The governor stated that inquiries into the contentious airport project started by the previous administration were still proceeding.

The EFCC has been inviting persons whose money somehow ended up in their accounts, he claimed. We’re still working on it. And I’m confident we’ll receive our money back when it’s due.
