A portion of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has maintained that the party’s National Convention, scheduled on November 15–16, will go as scheduled.

The party’s official 𝕏 account published a statement on Friday outlining the position.

The PDP is prepared to nominate a new National Working Committee (NWC) and clarify its preparations in front of Nigeria’s pivotal general elections in 2027, according to the statement.

In the 2027 elections, the party promised to oppose the All Progressives Congress (APC) and seize power democratically.

Eight days remain until the historic Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Elective Convention on November 15–16, 2025. As Nigeria’s leading opposition force prepares for a victorious comeback in 2027, the party is working nonstop to elect a dynamic new National Working Committee (NWC) and cement its unbreakable unity.

Over 3,000 delegates from Nigeria’s 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory are expected to attend the historic #Ibadan2025 event, which will take place at the completely renovated Lekan Salami Stadium in Adamasingba, Ibadan.

The statement read, “This two-day spectacle is more than a leadership transition—it’s a bold declaration of renewal, reconciliation, and resilience, positioning the PDP to dismantle the All Progressives Congress (APC) grip on power and restore hope to millions of Nigerians weary of economic hardship, insecurity, and governance failures.”

On the basis of a ruling by Justice A. L. Akintola of the Oyo State High Court, the PDP declared that it would proceed with the convention despite the party’s internal differences and ongoing crises.

Recall that just hours after a Federal High Court in Abuja had ordered the convention to be postponed, the court had authorized the convention to proceed.

“On November 4, 2025, the Oyo State High Court, presided over by Justice A. L. Akintola, issued a resounding interim decision that cleared the way for the convention and required the Independent National election Commission (INEC) to oversee the events in accordance with election regulations.

The PDP’s constitutional rights and internal democracy were upheld by this crucial decision, which quickly overturned prior attempts to sabotage the event.

“The National Convention Organising Committee (NCOC), led by Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has confirmed smooth preparations: aspirant screenings are finished, delegate accreditation is moving forward, and logistics—including improved security, cutting-edge facilities, and virtual streaming for nationwide engagement—are locked in,” the PDP continued.
