On Monday, a group of senators led by Senate President Godswill Akpabio visited the family of late Senator Barinada Mpigi, who died last week in a London hospital.
Senator Mpigi served as the Rivers South East Senatorial District’s representative in the National Assembly.

Akpabio expressed profound grief and regret over the former lawmaker’s dying during the visit, describing Senator Mpigi’s passing as a terrible loss to the National Assembly and the country as a whole. He emphasized Mpigi’s commitment to public service, pointing out that he made a significant contribution to the formulation of legislation and the growth of the country.

“Senator Mpigi was a devoted public servant who made significant contributions to the advancement of legislation and the development of the country. “His dedication to the well-being of his constituents and his enthusiasm for service will never be forgotten,” Akpabio stated.

The Senate President advised the grieving family to find comfort in the significant life their father led, adding that Mpigi’s legacy would continue to inspire future generations of leaders. He reassured them that their sorrow is shared by the whole National Assembly as well as the Senate.
