The Nigerian Army’s 4 Brigade in Benin City, Edo State, killed a suspected renowned kidnapper who was terrorizing Auchi and the surrounding area.

According to reports, during operation IGBO DANU 1, the Nigerian Army’s 2 Division’s 4 Brigade operatives also successfully freed four kidnapped victims.

This was revealed in a statement provided to reporters on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, by Captain Kennedy Anyanwu, Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, 4 Brigade Nigerian Army, Benin City.

The operation was carried out in cooperation with the Edo State Security Corps (ESSC), according to Anyanwu.

He said that the four victims were saved from the infamous kidnapper at Warrake Forest in the State’s Owan East Local Government Area.

He claims that on March 3, 2026, soldiers from Operation IGBO DANU 1 conducted a nighttime operation in Warake Forest, Auchi Local Government Area, in collaboration with members of the Nigerian Army School of Electrical and Mechanical Engineers and local vigilantes.

“During a night patrol, the troops reacted to gunfire heard in the bush with a vigorous pursuit and little use of firearms.

“During the encounter, the brave soldiers eliminated a well-known kidnapper who had been terrorizing Auchi and the surrounding area.

“The remaining criminals were forced to abandon their victims and flee into the bush due to the superior firepower of the troops,” he stated.

He identified the victims who had been saved as Stella Abbas, Tina Ododa, Razak Rashid, and Mutanibi Kalifa.

According to him, the victims were between the ages of 29, 27, 19, and 16 when they were saved unharmed and eventually reunited with their families.

Anyanwu reported that N650,000 in cash, shoes, a power bank, and cell phones were among the items recovered from the neutralized kidnapper.
