Nigerians in Iran who want to leave have started to be evacuated, according to the Federal Government.

In a post posted on 𝕏 on Tuesday, the Chairman and CEO of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) verified the occurrence.

Dabiri-Erewa claims that the evacuation is being coordinated by representatives of the Nigerian Embassy in Tehran, who will make sure that any people who choose to leave Iran are securely transported into Armenia.

“Officials from the Nigerian Embassy in Tehran are safely guiding willing Nigerians in Iran across the Armenian border, ensuring a smooth and secure process for those seeking to depart,” she said.

Additionally, she gave assurances that no Nigerian has been hurt as a result of the ongoing hostilities and that embassy staff is still there at the border to help and support evacuees.

The evacuation, which was coordinated with Armenian authorities, is a component of the Federal Government’s initiative to protect Nigerians living overseas in times of crisis. It highlights the government’s commitment to safeguarding the wellbeing of its people abroad and its watchfulness over events in the Middle East.

Following the passing of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Nollywood actor Linc Edochie has advised young people in northern Nigeria against holding demonstrations in favor of the country.

The actor reportedly issued the warning following protests in northern Nigeria by organizations endorsing Iran following the leader’s death on February 28, 2026, during a joint Israeli-American bombing.

After Iran retaliated by attacking Israeli and American interests in a number of the region’s nations, tensions in the Middle East have only increased. Fears of a larger confrontation involving major world powers have increased as a result of the exchange of attacks.

Protests in support of Iran were staged in a few Northern Nigerian states during these events.

In response, Edochie sent a video message on his Facebook page urging Nigerians—particularly the demonstrators—to refrain from taking any activities that would draw unwelcome attention to their nation.

He believes that the fight between Iran and its adversaries could turn into one of the most destructive conflicts in history.

Additionally, he cautioned that if the issue gets the attention of powerful nations, Nigeria lacks the means to confront them.

The actor urged Nigerians to exercise caution and refrain from doing any activities that would put their country in a precarious position abroad.

“Let’s pray to God about what’s going on in the world, even though it may not directly impact us. I regret to inform you that a third world war has officially started, whether it directly affects us or we choose to ignore it.

“To be honest, this war may not be fought on traditional terms, but it will be the deadliest the world has ever seen. Please allow us to leave the streets, some of the men up north who are demonstrating against what is going on in Iran.

You don’t want to incite a superpower. We’re in peril if we attract their attention. We are unable to tolerate these nations’ wrath. Please, let’s simply accept who we are and deal with our issues the way we are.”
