Following the Court of Appeal’s recent ruling about the PDP’s national convention, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central Senatorial District, has called on PDP leaders and members to embrace unity and reconciliation.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, Akpoti-Uduaghan made the request, characterizing the decision as a chance for the party to set aside internal conflicts and concentrate on reconstructing its institutions in front of the general elections in 2027.

The congressman stated that the party should now focus on fortifying its internal unity and getting ready for upcoming elections rather than litigation and disputes.

“As a party that believes in the rule of law, it is time for us to turn the page on litigation and focus on reconciliation and rebuilding now that the Court of Appeal has spoken,” she stated.

She claims that protracted legal disputes and internal strife may make it more difficult for the party to provide its members with a solid political platform.

Akpoti-Uduaghan cautioned that grassroots members who are getting ready to run for office on the PDP platform may suffer as a result of ongoing disagreements among party officials.

“Those who aspire to serve in State Houses of Assembly, the House of Representatives, the Senate, governorship positions, and even the presidency must not become victims of protracted disputes among leaders,” she said.

The senator also emphasized that the PDP must organize a transparent, inclusive national convention that conforms to the Independent National Electoral Commission’s rules.

She pointed out that the party’s democratic credentials would be strengthened and party members’ trust would be restored.

“Nigerians are watching, and now is the time for the PDP to demonstrate that it is still cohesive, inclusive, and capable of leading the nation,” she continued.

Akpoti-Uduaghan reiterated her dedication to the party’s unity and advancement and exhorted members across the country to maintain optimism while actively supporting initiatives to reconstruct and reposition the PDP in advance of the 2027 elections.
