Lai Mohammed, a former minister of information, disclosed the reasons why President Bola Tinubu and his predecessor, the late Muhammadu Buhari, were unable to reach an alliance in 2011.

Mohammed stated that they couldn’t agree on a running mate during an interview with Edmund Obilo, a political content developer.

It was remembered that the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), which included President Tinubu and his team, the All Nigerian Peoples Party (ANPP), and the Congress for Progressives Change (CPC), which included Buhari and his supporters, established the current All Progressives Congress (APC).

Lai Mohammed claims that the late Buhari had already selected Pastor Tunde Bakare as his running mate, causing conflict between them.

“Now, we in ACN made a strong case that, see, we have control over six states. You only have authority over one state, CPC. We are even prepared to enter your platform and compete under the CPC.

“Make use of all of your colors, yet we only need one thing from you, and you refuse to provide it? We will be accused of selling them out by our people.

We parted differences on that issue, and naturally, we both suffered terrible defeats in 2011. By 2012, Tinubu and Buhari realized how much they depended on each other, according to Lai Mohammed.
