Bola Ahmed Tinubu was briefed on Thursday by security leaders on the state of security and the ongoing military operations against terrorists and bandits throughout the nation.

The gathering, which took place in the Presidential Villa in Abuja, took place in the midst of fresh terrorist attacks in northern Nigeria, which included assaults on military installations and the deaths of multiple soldiers and high-ranking officials.

Following the private meeting, Christopher Musa, the Minister of Defense, told State House reporters that the briefing enabled the military to give the president a current evaluation of ongoing security operations.

Musa stated, “The purpose of the meeting was for the services to brief Mr. President on the current situation on the ground.”

“You are aware that the security forces have responded to a number of attacks.”

The security briefing came after allegations of increased attacks in the Northeast by militants thought to be affiliated with the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP).

Attacks by rebels are said to have killed numerous soldiers and at least three senior military leaders in the past week.

In Borno State and Yobe State, the terrorists allegedly attacked over five military units.

The military said that many of the attacks were repulsed by troops, despite the fact that they resulted in damage and casualties.

According to Musa, one of the meeting’s goals was to address what he called erroneous assessments of the security situation.

Occasionally, the interpretation has not been quite straightforward, particularly in the media. He stated, “We felt we should correct the record.”

He praised President Tinubu for his unwavering backing of the military and other security organizations against insurgency.

Despite recent allegations of attacks, the defense chief advised Nigerians to remain optimistic.

“We are pleading with Nigerians not to become weary or give up. When you hear the news, you might assume that’s all that’s going on, but that’s not the case at all,” he stated.

He claims that during continuing operations, terrorists and bandits have suffered significant casualties from security forces.

“The bandits and terrorists are killing their commanders and taking more casualties,” Musa continued.

Musa recognized that some military troops had lost their lives during operations, despite the documented victories.

“We have lost many brave men and officers. He remarked, “It is very unfortunate.”

He did, however, reassure Nigerians that the military is still dedicated to bringing stability and peace back to the nation.

“We want to reassure Nigerians of our commitment to ensuring that Nigeria is safe and secure,” he stated.

The Head of Defense Additionally, staff revealed that President Tinubu had authorized the purchase of more weapons to bolster the battle against banditry and terrorism.

“More equipment has been promised by Mr. President so that we can effectively prosecute the war,” Musa stated.

The military has already modified its operations plans to combat new threats, he continued.

Musa claims that because they think their deeds will bring them spiritual rewards, rebels frequently step up their attacks during the holy month of Ramadan.

He did, however, assert that the military had responded by changing their strategy and applying more pressure to the rebels.

“We have neutralized some of their commanders and taken over several locations in the last few days,” he said.

In order to establish enduring peace, the defense chief emphasized that security services were cooperating.

He declared, “We are working together as a team, and we are confident we will succeed.”

Nuhu Ribadu, Inspector-General of Police Tunji Disu, Chief of Defense Intelligence Emmanuel Undiandeye, Chief of Air Staff Sunday Aneke, and Chief of Naval Staff Idi Abbas were among those in attendance.

Oluwatosin Ajayi, the director general of the State Security Service, and Mohammed Mohammed, the director general of the National Intelligence Agency, were also there.
