A commission to reorganize the mandates and oversight of Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) in the State Civil Service has been established by Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, the governor of Benue State.
He claimed that it is a component of his administration’s initiatives to boost system performance and enhance service delivery.
The Governor assigned the committee to examine the responsibilities of current MDAs, including ministries, bureaus, commissions, and government-owned businesses, and suggest suitable alignments for efficient oversight during yesterday’s event at Government House in Makurdi.
In addition to examining the activities of political appointees like Special Advisers and Assistants, the committee led by Deputy Governor Barr. Sam Ode will also identify and resolve systemic overlaps.
“I strongly advise you to treat this job with the utmost seriousness. He clarified, “This idea aims to strengthen institutional values, restore standard operational procedures, and improve personnel quality for optimal performance in the civil service.”
He guaranteed the committee of the government’s support and referred to the assignment as a call to service.
Barr. Bernard Hom, SAN, responding on behalf of members, expressed gratitude for the trust placed in them and promised to complete the task diligently.
The group, which is made up of a few notable indigenous people from the state, is anticipated to submit its findings for government review within two months, according to a statement made on Tuesday by Sir Tersoo Kula, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor.
