Peter Obi, a former presidential candidate and leader of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has claimed that efforts are being made by the Federal Government to keep him from running for president in 2027.

Obi reportedly made the accusation while advocating for the nation to have an open and reliable electoral process.

Obi discussed his political career in a video speech to a group of Nigerians, pointing out that he had faced years of difficulties, such as political exclusion and protracted court battles.

“I’ve worked in a really challenging field where people totally deserted you for a single election. “No one followed me to court for three years,” he remarked.

The former governor also recalled times in his career when he was ousted from office and left without assistance.

“I was removed from office twice, impeached, and sent back to my village where no one wanted to see me,” he continued.

Obi said that he has been reinforced by his past experiences and that he does not see anything novel in the current political environment.

“There is nothing that I won’t see again. “Everything that has been said about me is nothing new,” he remarked.

“FG Doesn’t Want Me To Enter”
In advance of the 2027 elections, the former presidential candidate claimed that the Federal Government is continuously working to thwart his aspirations.

“The Nigerian Federal Government is against me running for president in 2027.” We don’t have high expectations. We merely want a free and fair election; they already have the ministers and governors,” Obi stated.

Obi went on to say that people in positions of authority have access to powerful networks, which he thinks gives them an advantage in the political arena.

“They possess every contact.” They are familiar with the king and queen, but we are not. He said, “They have everything.”

Reiterating his position, Obi emphasized the necessity of fair competition and insisted that the emphasis should be on guaranteeing genuine elections rather than limiting participation.

According to him, Nigerians are entitled to a procedure that ensures equity, openness, and equal chances for every applicant.
