Prince Emmanuel Odigie, a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has hailed President Bola Tinubu’s visit to the UK as a move in the right direction and expressed optimism that it will improve bilateral ties and provide Nigeria with real economic advantages.

Odigie reportedly said the things on Thursday during an appearance on Arise Television’s Morning Show.

According to him, these overseas engagements ought to go beyond ceremonial events and result in tangible results, especially when it comes to luring investment into the nation.

He emphasized the importance of quickly implementing negotiated agreements and memoranda of understanding rather than letting them expire.

Odigie urged Tinubu’s followers to change their political rhetoric in a speech ahead of the 2027 general elections, emphasizing that the current administration’s mandate is gradually coming to an end and should be replaced with talks of regeneration.

Odigie emphasized that as the present mandate draws to a close, people will want accountability and observable improvement, thus the government must clearly convey its accomplishments and provide compelling arguments for reelection.

“I think the President’s visit to the United Kingdom is a welcome development, and we hope that they are able to facilitate good bilateral relations with the United Kingdom, not just the fun fair,” he stated.

“They ought to be able to draw in investors. You know, if these visits are properly handled, they are always beneficial to Nigeria. It’s not enough to simply have a fun fair, sign a deal, then return home and put it on the shelf. We want the Memorandums of Understanding to be signed and put into action immediately.

In my opinion, Nigerians singing “On Your Mandate We stand” indicate that the mandate is soon over. You know, they ought to start singing the mandate’s renewal.

We want to hear about mandate renewal. The 2023 mandate is on the verge of expiring. Therefore, we would like to know more about how, what has been done, and why Nigerians ought to extend his term.
